The Super Bowl is now over, and it was quite a game! How about the fanfare of the pre-game show with Reba McEntire singing our national anthem and then the fly over? The glitter, fireworks, and music? And this was before the game even started! There seemed to be no expense spared for Super Bowl LVIII?
But speaking of expense! Did you know that tickets ranged from $6,875 to as high as $22,907? That is a lot of money to pay for a one-time event which will only last several hours, but many have saved their money to gain this experience and the memories.
Seven million dollars is also a lot of money to pay for a 30-second commercial. It’s over before it begins. And what type of lasting effect does it have on you? Some will buy the products, but most of us will forget what the commercial was about. They are not even as funny and entertaining as they used to be!
These types of events are fun to watch, especially in the comfort of your own home, but are they enough to satisfy us? We always want more from our entertainment – more fanfare, glitter, entertainers, thrills, and excitement. It could be a roller coaster ride upside down or other daring rides at amusement parks. They are fun for the moment, but they can never give us long-term satisfaction.
What is my point in sharing all of this? It is not about what Jesus would do with all of this money, although that thought has crossed my mind several times.
There is an alternative to consider. Why not purchase your ticket to heaven by repenting of your sins and accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? It won’t cost you any money, but it will cost you your life – your “old” life. Jesus will give you a new life, and you will become a new creation in him. It will last you a lifetime and will guarantee your place in heaven when you leave this earth.
Only Jesus can do that! Think about it. Which ticket do you want punched for your life?
