The Awakening Song

Writer: Rachel WestRachel West

As I was laying in bed this morning half-awake, I heard the birds singing. ALL the birds in the area seemed to be singing at the top of their lungs! It was loud but not offending. It was a chorus of every single bird in the area singing their own song to say “Good Morning, God! It’s a beautiful day!”

I rolled over for another few minutes of sleep. When I awoke and arose, I realized that something was different. I couldn’t hear the birds singing. As I listened closely, I seemed to hear one or two but what a contrast.

Now this is nothing new. This is the life and character of birds.

Have you ever watched a bird and wondered what do birds do all day long? These feathered creatures are always busy, but their daily lives are more fascinating than you might expect. From early morning songs to foraging for food, socializing, and building nests, birds follow routines that help them thrive. Whether soaring through the sky or resting in the shade, every action serves a purpose.

However, God was showing me how we are similar to the birds. As we arise in the morning, we gather together in our households to get ready for the day (eating and getting clean/dressed), and then we disperse to carry out our responsibilities – working at home or outside the home, gathering food, cleaning our environment, socializing with friends/meeting new friends. Later we return to our “nests” to rest. These are things that help us to thrive.

One very important part of the day is sharing and interacting with others. Socialization is very important to birds for survival just as it is to us. As we connect with friends and new friends, we have the opportunity to share our beliefs with them. For us humans and followers of Jesus Christ, our mission is to tell others about God and what He has done for us.

God wants us to share Jesus with others, and there are many ways to do that – verbally; our actions; our written words; our songs; books we read; and many others. What is your gift of sharing that you use?

Thanks for stopping by,

Rachel
