My day was beginning as usual, and I was preparing to put my make-up on. When I removed the lid from the tube, it slipped right through my fingers. It hit the floor, and a small piece broke off. What? How did that happen? How many times have I dropped this lid before and nothing like this has ever happened!

Was it the angle at which it hit the floor? Did it drop at a faster speed than before? Had the lid weakened in some way prior to this incident? I am not going to over analyze this, but I’ll bet you have experienced something like this, too. Something you have done a hundred times, and then something quirky happens with it.

I began thinking about how this is one of the ways God teaches us. Sometimes the “teaching” smacks us in the face or something quirky happens like never before!
God teaches us through His Word, direct experiences, and indirect experiences. 3 Ways God Teaches Lessons To His People (christiantoday.com)
1. His Word - There's no better teacher than God Himself, communicating necessary, timeless, and relevant truths to us through His very Word.
2. Direct Experiences - We have the opportunity to experience His hand in everything, if only we would realize His purpose for all things that are happening to us.
3. Indirect Experiences - There are times when God teaches us lessons through other people.
I remember that Mom was always telling me to stand up straight. I did but didn’t like the fact that she was always telling me. Her words have much more meaning now in my adult years because I don’t want to be hunched over as I grow older. Because of where she was in her life and what she had experienced, she knew that these words were important even though the timing did not make me very happy.
Maybe there is a scripture which you have read many times, but this one time, a new meaning was revealed to you. How did that happen? Why did you not receive that meaning earlier in your life? I believe that only God can answer these questions. It is not up to us to solve the mystery (even though we have an innate curiosity) but to accept it and go forth.
Many times, we repeat the same motions, words, and thoughts. The expected outcome is always the same until it is not. God makes things happen, perfect according to His will, and in His timing.

So when the unusual and unexpected occurrence takes place, let us simply thank God for continuing to use every situation and occurrence to teach us and to direct our paths.
Thanks for stopping by,
Rachel
