Is there anything in life that is guaranteed? Like me, you’ve probably heard many
others answer, “Yes, death and taxes”. Well that is true, but other than that, do we have or have access to anything which has a Lifetime Guarantee? I actually googled this question, and here are some of the answers along with my comments in blue:
The guarantee that no one will be with you for lifetime. You have to leave your loved ones at every step of your life. (God will be with you through this!)
The guarantee that you have to face joys as well as sorrows in your lifetime. You can't stick to joy for lifetime. (With God, you can! May not always be easy, but you can!)
The guarantee that you came alone in this world and you will leave it alone. (God will be with you forever!)
The guarantee that you will be dead one day. (Dead in this earthly body, but alive in Christ!)
You may be wondering what brought this up for me? Why am I researching “lifetime guarantee”? It began with my reading this week in Deuteronomy 28. The Israelites were so very close to crossing the Jordan River into the Promised Land. Moses was, once again, giving them God’s instructions for becoming His people - how they should worship, make sacrifices of animals/offerings, farm, live in harmony together, decide disputes, and much more.
In Deuteronomy 28:8, Moses stated the following:
“The Lord will guarantee a blessing on everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.” (author emphasis) (NLT)
Did you see that?? “The Lord will guarantee a blessing”!! If God stated that He would guarantee a blessing (and He did!), then it was going to happen. We are talking about a promise from God. There was no doubt. God never changes so He was not going to change His mind about this!
So with a guarantee from God, why did the Israelites find it so hard to obey those rules? Who wouldn't want the blessings of prosperity in their “towns, crops, and harvest; in family; in fruit baskets and breadboards; in wherever you go and whatever you do”? However, we must remember that what appears “easy” from the outside (us looking at the Israelites) can be very different from what is happening on the inside of them. A commitment to God must take place on the inside of us and must be one that we truly believe and believe with faithfulness. This decision is not one to be indifferent about or nonchalant. It should be one which is made with prayerful and earnest consideration.
So I go back to the items listed above which include “guarantees” and my added comments. Once we have repented and accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we have life in Christ. When we have a life with Christ, then we DO have a Lifetime Guarantee of Eternal Life with Him. This is the only guarantee we need!

Thanks for stopping by,
Rachel
