It has seemed like a long – very long – waiting period. And still is! Waiting for what God has for me next. Have you experienced this? I’m sure you have! Something happened this morning which gave me confirmation that God wants me to continue waiting.

Mike and I were sitting in the sunroom watching the birds and hummingbirds at their respective feeders. A female hummingbird came to the feeder and just sat there. Normally they are sipping quickly and watching their backs for other hummingbirds also wanting some food.
She must have sat there at least 30 seconds staring straight ahead, only glancing around once or twice. No other hummingbirds came around. She didn’t drink but only sat and then flew off. I have never seen a hummingbird do that – to be still for that long.
I felt God telling me to “Be still” just as this female was doing. It doesn’t matter how long but just be still. He is working things out.
One of my battles is with “idle hands”. I thrive on working and keeping busy with projects & helping others in some way. It keeps my mind from wondering too far off! When I don’t have these tasks, I flounder and don’t know what to do with the time. I can always clean the house, wash the clothes, and cook, but I don’t thrive on those repetitive tasks. I just get them completed.
For several months, I have been asking God for direction.
I think He just gave it to me. Continue to “be still” but be in His Word more. Being still doesn’t mean doing nothing. Focus more on God instead of the “mind wondering too far off.” Read the scriptures and pray.

Those few minutes in the sunroom were so peaceful as we gathered ourselves and prepared for worship this morning. God says “Be still.”
Thanks for stopping by,
Rachel
