Hi!  My name is Rachel West, and I am crafting my first blog - EVER!  I grew up in church, played the organ for church services, attended youth group, etc.  But I didn’t really like “church”. I liked the people but not “church”. And I didn’t really know God.  For one thing, I didn’t really gain anything from reciting creeds and following traditions of the denomination each and every week.

 

As I look back now, I realize that God was preparing me for the ministry I have been attending for the past 10 years.  Greater Works Ministry in Henderson, NC is a spirit-filled and spirit-led ministry. When we gather, we praise, have a message, and receive the tithes and offerings.  But if someone needs prayer, we go right to God with that need. Or if someone has a word from God to share, they are given the opportunity to do just that. You don’t have to be ordained by man to share a word from God because he has called each of us:

• John 15:16  Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

 

It is important to learn the truth of the Bible and receive the interpretation from the Holy Spirit.  

• John 4:32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

 

My faith has grown exponentially, and I have grown in my knowledge and understanding of God, but there is so much more to learn.  My hope is that this blog can be interactive with positive comments and questions from readers and studiers of God's Word. I have no timeframe for how frequently the entries will come, but I am hoping for every 1-2 weeks.  My hope is that the content will not be too long but will be rich.
